Inside the home, hardwood tongue and groove flooring was used for the internal living area. The entertainment system features speakers which have been flush set into the ceilings and walls provide a unique sound experience.
High louvers provide a passage for the escaping hot air whilst allowing the penetration of northern sunlight. The open plan ensuite features a large northernly facing picture window that provides views and light to the north. The large free standing bath and frameless glass shower screen furthers the open plan living of this home.
The kitchen is well designed for entertaining with the use of Granite tops which flow from the kitchen area to the external entertaining area via a large hinged window that opens up to allow the entertainment to flow inside.

This two storey contempary home provides an open theme with an internal living area reaching to the upper ceiling line. A walkway bridging the upper level from the main bedroom to the games room leads you out onto an outdoor entertaining area. No expensive has been spared with the Natural timber kitchen made out of Tasmanian Oak.
Corrugated Iron used for the external walls were complimented with black window frames and external posts.
Project 03

The view to the point of the Agnes Water Beach assisted Mike with his designing process. The outside of the home is cladded with Weathertex. This is laid at different directions so feature walls could be created with contrasting colours and bring the beach feel into the home.
A suspended carport leads into this coastal 3 bedroom home with an open plan kitchen, living area that leads out to large deck to capture the views to the beach. An extra wide hallway on your entry gives you the feel of open space.
Louvers were used throughout this home to provide the maximum cross ventilation and utilize the sea breezes.

A Duplex was the choose for design for this investor on a residential block in Agnes Water. The size of the duplex is deceiving from the outside of a small size, but surprisingly consists of corner kitchen with a roomy living area , 3 bedrooms and a smart bathroom. The laundry is hidden in the hallway behind concertina doors and works as a great space saver.
The external walls consists of Plank cladding on the lower section of the surrounds laid horizontally which become a feature with an vibrant colour. This colour has been brought inside for the internal feature wall. The upper section of the external walls are lined with flat FC sheeted with a coverstrip painted in a natural colour. Timber louvers work together well with the outside features of the Duplex. The louvers also work as an excellent source for cross ventilation and easily adjusted for privacy purposes.
The roof is a feature within itself with the different levels of construction.

This small 459m2 block provided a challenge to design a home that maximizes the use of outdoor living while conforming with boundary set back and height restrictions. The shape of this home follows the tapering of the block boundaries. With the home placing a small foot print on the lot and the use of steel post, we were able to use natural plantation timber to provide the main floor structure. The small footprint provides more usable land for landscaping and outdoor activities. This unique home, designed by Mike has many features which include decking on each level which provides shelter for soffits for the floor below. The roof line was inspired from the Agnes Water Headland meeting the open surf. This is featured with the three main roofs following natural fall of the surrounding hills, while the fourth curved entry roof provides a contrast that is derived from the ocean. The external wall cladding is low visual impact ‘Weather-tex’ products sealed with innovated colours extending from a creamy stone and partnered with an earthy grey. The entry walls complement the natural curved roof with sand coloured FC sheeting trimmed with natural hardwood cover strips. This innovative home provided a bench mark in design and was recognized by HIA in 2006 winning HIA Wide Bay Small Lot Housing of the Year.
